Remote Schools in Palawan Get Connected Through ROS3TECH and unconnected.org

Remote schools at Palawan, dubbed as Philippines’ last frontier, get connected through ROS3TECH, a local ISP, powered by unconnected.org.

Due to its inherent geographical isolation, Palawan is home to both the world’s best untouched beaches as well as the hardest terrains for infrastructure deployments. In remote areas, electricity is not yet available, and so is telecommunications coverage.

ROS3TECH opened up opportunities for students of Sta. Monica Elementary School, Buenavista Elementary School, and Mangsee Elementary School to be connected to the Internet for free, while also enabling affordable connectivity for the surrounding communities.

These deployments are representative of the remotest sites of unconnected.org in the Philippines through members like ROS3TECH. Lacking access to fiber infrastructure, satellite backhaul fits perfectly into the equation of delivering meaningful access to the community.
