Sustainable Development Goals

The United Nations (UN), with the participation of most countries around the world, set targets to achieve by 2030 to make our world a better place.

Established in 2015, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.

There are 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with 169 sub-targets to enable them. They balance the economic, social and ecological dimensions of sustainable development, and place the fight against poverty and sustainable development on the same agenda for the first time.

Connectivity to the digital world plays a major role in achieving most of the SDGs. In particular it impacts the following SDGs:

  • SDG 1. No Poverty

  • SDG 3. Good health and wellbeing.

  • SDG 4. Quality education

  • SDG 5. Gender equality

  • SDG 8. Decent work and economic growth

  • SDG 9. Industry, innovation and infrastructure

  • SDG 10. Reduced inequalities within and among countries

theunconnected.org was founded in order to participate directly in achieving the SDGs. Our purpose is to connect 1 million new people to the internet. Our project aim to protect students, young women and communities in need in develop gin countries.

The SDGs are to be achieved around the world, and by all UN member states, by 2030. This means that all states are called upon equally to play their part in finding shared solutions to the world's urgent challenges.
