How to Activate Your Starlink Kit with unconnected.org

Activating your Starlink kit is a straightforward process, but it requires coordination with our support team to ensure smooth deployment. Follow the steps below to get your kit activated properly and avoid common issues.

Step 1: Gather Your Kit Information and Coordinates

Before requesting activation, you will need:
✅ The kit number (found on the Starlink box or the bottom of the dish).
✅ The exact GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude) of the installation location.

⚠️ Why Coordinates Matter:
The Starlink system operates based on precise geolocation. If the coordinates are incorrect, your dish will not function when powered up. Use Google Maps or another GPS tool to determine the exact installation location.

Step 2: Request Activation from unconnected.org Support

Once you have the kit number and coordinates, send an email to:

Include the following details:

  • Subject: Starlink Activation Request – [Your Kit Number]

  • Body:

    • Kit Number: [Your Kit Number]

    • Installation Coordinates: [Latitude, Longitude]

    • Name of school or location so we can identify the dish in the future [School or community name]

    • Any additional information

🔹 Processing Time:
Our Tier 3 support team operates Monday to Friday. If you need activation over the weekend, make sure to send your request before Friday to avoid delays.

Step 3: Wait for Activation Confirmation

Once our support team processes your request, they will activate your dish based on the provided location and send you a confirmation email. Do not power on the dish before receiving this confirmation.

Step 4: Power Up Your Dish

After receiving confirmation from unconnected.org support, follow these steps:
1️⃣ Set up the Starlink dish in the requested location.
2️⃣ Connect the dish to the Starlink router.
3️⃣ Power on the system and wait for initialization.

(Optional) Enabling Bypass Mode for Third-Party Routers

If you plan to use a different router instead of the default Starlink router, you need to request Bypass Mode activation.

📌 Steps to Enable Bypass Mode:
1️⃣ Email support@unconnected.org requesting Bypass Mode activation (after your dish is activated).
2️⃣ Power on the Starlink router and keep it connected.
3️⃣ Wait for support to enable Bypass Mode. (This can only be done while the Starlink router is turned on.)
4️⃣ Once confirmed, you can disconnect the Starlink router and use your preferred networking setup.

Key Reminders:

⚠️ Submit activation requests Monday-Friday to avoid weekend delays.
⚠️ Ensure correct coordinates—an incorrect location will prevent the dish from working.
⚠️ Do not power on the dish before activation confirmation.
⚠️ Bypass Mode can only be enabled when the Starlink router is powered on.
