Connecting San Jose Elementary: Unlocking Digital Learning Opportunities in Mindanao
Following the successful pilot implementation in Luzon of unconnected.org and Eastern Communications, another last-mile school in Mindanao is provided free connectivity anchored on enabling students and teachers to complement classroom learning with online digital tools.
San Jose Elementary School at Dipolog, Zamboanga Del Norte, is Eastern’s latest beneficiary of its “Project Maaasahan,” aiming to promote digital literacy through inclusive connectivity.
Internet was well received by the community. Beyond access, it is a means of positively impacting the way their students learn and, ultimately, improving their lives.
For Eastern, connectivity is key for citizens to be able to participate in the digital economy - this is especially significant for key educational institutions in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA).
With reliable connectivity, students from remote schools will be able to supplement their classroom education with up-to-date online resources and explore more opportunities on the web.
