Empowering Education in GIDA Communities Across the Philippines
unconnected.org and premier telecommunications and ICT solutions provider Eastern Communications partnered to bring vital internet connectivity to schools in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDA) in the Philippines across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Aiming to bridge the digital divide and support both students and teachers in their pursuit of continuous and empowered learning, through “Project Maaasahan,” Eastern provided free satellite internet to a remote and underserved school, Panicuason Elementary School, in Naga City.
"This is not just a CSR program, this is a partnership with purpose, anchored in love for Filipino learners and belief that education is the greatest equalizer," said school principal Winnife Urot.
unconnected.org and Eastern are creating a future where education is accessible, inclusive, and future-ready for all.
“Through this partnership with unconnected.org, not only can we help bridge the digital divide but also drive digital literacy, especially in far-flung areas,” said Jed Estanislao, Chief Marketing and Experience Officer of Eastern Communications.
