Isolated public educational institution now connected

Aguinaldo Elementary Multi-Grade School in Macrohon, Southern Leyte, Visayas, Philippines is the latest last-mile school to be connected using satellite technology through the effort of Infinilink and the Local Government Unit of Maasin, and supported by Internet Society and unconnected.org.

The school is located near the coastline, where there is a challenge on accessing commercial telecommunications services.

Connectivity is provided free-for-all students while affordable connectivity is offered to the community surrounding the school. With access, students can expand learning opportunities through digital tools and resources, while teachers can access updated materials, training modules and online support.

Beneficiaries also cover village representatives, health workers and other public servants. Internet will enable the village to address administrative responsibilities more efficiently, streamline communication and access government platforms.
