Lighting Up Classrooms: Bongao - Salug Valley Cable TV Delivers Connectivity to Tawi-Tawi’s Isolated School
Bongao - Salug Valley Cable TV, a member-partner of unconnected.org, adds five areas of social impact under their umbrella providing meaningful access to connectivity for students and other beneficiaries, while enabling surrounding communities to affordably connect to the Internet.
Satellite terminals are to be deployed at Sama Kasulutan Elementary School, Pababag Elementary School, Salamat Elementary School, Barangay Pahut Elementary School and Dar Al-Asar Institute.
Traditionally a cable TV operator, the local provider operates in the southernmost province of the Philippines, Tawi-Tawi. Incidentally, because of its location, the province is perennially challenged with lack of access to commercial telecommunications services.
Schools and most importantly students are missing out on digitalization because of connectivity woes, and this is how Bongao Cable TV positions itself as an enabler of affordable services to connect Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA).
“Supporting student learning in this part of the Philippines is a legacy our technology company can impart through what we do best - internet and telecommunications service provisioning,” said Joselino Galicia, CEO of Bongao - Salug Valley Cable TV.
